This is an innovative and safe umbrella that adapts to the modern lifestyle, liberating users’ hands and improving the usage efficiency. Its shoulder support structure changes umbrella’s feature, increases stability and provides a new ergonomic experience. This design was designed for people of almost all ages who use the umbrella frequently and have multi-task to do when using it. Without using any new technologies and materials, it has a low mass-production fee and sustainable development possibilities for existing product replacement.
The design combines minimalist abstraction of art and geometry with the prestige of high-end fashion, and the classic of English heels. It further preserves the element of rawness in its execution manifested through the neat and delicate feel of the shoe and its overall look. The design process involved the deliberation of the three essential elements of the shoe: natural, abstract, and elegant. This required balancing the proportions of the design itself, as well as paying attention to the chosen materials in terms of texture, colors, and quality, to achieve a satisfying appeal of aesthetics.
THEY New York is a minimalist footwear label founded by siblings Jack and Angela Lin. The founders come from a family that has been manufacturing footwear for Japanese private labels for the past 40 years. The core design of THEY is inspired by fundamental elements of the German Bauhaus movement and the aesthetics rooted in Japanese minimalism and architectural forms. We believe in creating a shoe that celebrates design itself, with each pair standing out with muted elegance.
Crafted from smooth full grain calfskin, the Addicted bracelet bag features a bottle shaped silhouette with a ring buckle that functions as a handle. The bracelet-like handle enhances the bag's jewelry feel while looping over the wrist. The bag is spacious enough for just your daily essentials: cell phone, wallets and keys. Its detachable and adjustable shoulder strap allows it to be worn as long shoulder, cross-body or carried in the hand on the handle.
Inspired by the evolution of leisure travel after the industrial revolution, errant and cheval pay homage to traditional luggage while offering a new and efficient solution for the slow travelers of today. The luggage set stores flat when not in use and is able to adapt dimensions based on its contents. Errant (backpack) is comprised of panels that roll together, determining overall size and at the same time not being able to exceed maximum carry on dimensions. Cheval (handbag) follows the same principle, being able to roll excess bag material to adapt to the contents inside.
Tormenta is inspired by maritime materials, and the personal connection with sailing. The collection started with the pattern of a sail. This pattern was used for the weaving blueprints. All materials were developed in collaboration with TextileLab Tilburg. The goal was to create shape into the materials with recycled fishnet nylon. Afterwards the materials were converted into wearable designs and high fashion. The remaining materials were used to create material installations. The Tormenta 3d printed shoes were designed and produced in collaboration with Chris van den Elzen and Shapeways.
