Sun and Night

Creatively, Aya like using abstract subject matter and imagery because she want every viewer to bring their own unique background and ideas to viewing the work. She really want people to have an individual experience. Technically, this textile creates harmony through the color and texture of yarns. Jaquared weaving is an old technique that allows the combination of warp and weft to result in new colors. Jaquared also creates tiny, three-dimensional structures on the surface of the weave to give the work a different texture as you view it from different angles.

The Control

The inspiration gave an idea for an imaginative story which talks about a war between mankind and nature. The leopard represents modern ladies energetic, rapier wit and strong-willed image. Basic to a streamline of leopard shape, mix-matched Art Deco and modern artistic form of expression, models on clay, a sculpture which is following woman's wonderful body line. In the basis of the tanning technique, steam from an iron is used on wet leather for over a hundred hours to make the leather follow the sculpture. Then it keeps the silhouette of the leather to be stable, even without the sculpture.

Ficedula Parva

The Ficedula Parva collection is inspired by the colour palette of the Red-breasted Flycatcher. It is made of organic cotton, organic linen and recycled yarn. The textile print is handmade by the designer. By choosing materials that are produced in a way that is gentle to nature, by using high quality materials that last longer, and by creating classic designs that can be used for more than one season, the Ficedula Parva collection has its place in HEKNEs greater design concept where every collection carries the colours of one selected bird.

Androgynous - Butterfly Lovers

This collection, Loom Loop tried to integrate the core feminine look combined with the tailoring structure. It features strongly on prints inspired by the story. The colour palette is a juxtaposition of this legend story with burgundy and dark forest colour. The butterfly motif provides a focus on prints; Loom Loop favours both the all in one look in the same print and the mixing of the prints.
